VRT19-HA, Sync-on-green, PowerStorm

Hi folks:

We recently purchased several Alphastation/255s with the
hope of connecting older sync-on-green VRT19-HAs (3 bnc connectors,
no separate v and h sync lines) using powerstorm
3D30s. After making several attempts to get these to work and
several calls to digital tech. support and rummaging through
this list archives, still could not get the card to respond to the
tga_sync_green command. Here is what I have done so far,

any thoughts are appreciated....

Configuration: DEC- ALPHASTATION/255 with Powerstorm 3D30
        FIRMWARE: SRM - 6-4.1, DU 4.0c.
VRT19-HA: DUAL SYNC AT 72 and 66HZ monitor timing
"very close" to rotary wheel settings 0 and 1 on the
                graphics cards.

1. Connected a multi-sync monitor (which works fine) to the
card, got the srm console and set the tga_sync_green variable
        to a variety of numbers....
Sidenote: I am confused regarding what this number
should be set. Source of all info. is digital...
VERSION A: set tga_sync_green 1 sets the first TGA card on
the pci bus to send sync signal on green. A value of 2
sets the second one and a value of 3 sets both ( FROM THE
INSTALLATION MANUAL THAT CAME WITH THE COMPUTER)
VERSION B: set tga_sync_green 1 sets the card in PCI slot 0
to send sync signal on green, a value of 2 sets the card in
slot 1, and 4 sets the card in slot 3, a value of 7 sets them
all. (SOURCE: Digital tech support database)

Tried them all. If I set the value to 7, machine resets it back to
zero after power-cycling. None of these settings worked.

2. Installing the graphics card in slot 0 (bottom most pci slot in the
riser card) gets the card to be identified as
        tga0 at pci0 slot 11
when the machine boots not as slot 0. What gives?

Thanks,
