i've asked:

And the answer is, as Olle says: it works out of the box.
(with /dev/(n)rmtXl - uncompression and /dev/(n)rmtXh - compression)
My problem was that i tried with a disk full with "gzip"ed data and had
the idea that hardware compression should be significantly more efficient
than software compression (30 - 50% ??) and obviously this is not true
for my situation.
