File Corruption on DU 4.0b

 Dear All,
  
  We have a very odd problem..
 
 we have Alphasever 1000a, du4.0b + patches using ADVfs.
 
 PC clients access applications on the server via NFS.
 
 This has been working fine for months.
 
 
 Just recently an MS WORD dll file started to get corrupted at random intervals
 (several times a day). Each time it is the same 8 bytes (see below, cmp -l)
 that get nulled.
 
 
 Can anyone suggest a way of tracking down what may be doing this ? We are at a
 loss (as are Digital :-) )
