PPP networking help needed

I'm sure I am missing something very simple or perhaps I do not
understand the basics.

problem: a client establishes itself with a PPP server and gets an IP number
of say 120.121.120.77 and say the server is 120.121.120.58. When I am
on 120.121.120.58, I can see 120.121.120.77 but ANY other workstation
on the network cannot see it.

Details:
the server is DEC Alpha 600, modem is USR 28.8
I have tried running gated , routed etc etc on 1 machine on all machines
etc etc.

How do I tell all the workstations to contact 120.121.120.58 in order
to get to 120.121.120.77? I thought the PPP server has to "act" as a router?
If so , how come routed did not work?

any answers/suggestions would be of help.
