Hi there fellow managers,
Can anyone help me with the following problem?
We have just installed a Digital Alpha 1000 running Digital Unix 3.2G at our
site. We currently use a PCNFS network, our PC's run Sun's PCNFS versions
5.0, 5.1, Pro 2.0 or in my case SNC 3.1. Currently we have a HP machine
which acts as the Server, but as this machine is going to be decommissioned,
we would like to make the Alpha machine the server, and therein lies the
problem.
I tried to make the Alpha the server for my PC, but when my PC went to check
authentication, couldn't communicate to our Alpha machine. After a fair bit
of stuffing around, I still couldn't get it to work. I spoke to Sun who told
me that the pcnfsd that DU3.2G supplies is not compatible with Sun PCNFS,
and Sun don't supply a pcnfsd for DU, because they have their own.
Has anyone out there faced a similar situation, and if so did you find a
solution. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
TIA
Glenn.
