Seems I overlooked the answer....

use a ".forward" file to forward the mail to a file.

Thanx to Joshua Rowe rowe_at_eksystems.com for pointing this out to me.

also suggested by Robert L. McMillin rlm_at_syseca-us.com was the use of
procmail
which can be gotten at : ftp.informatik.rwth-aachen.de

I'm using the sendmail with DU 3.2c (I believe it's version 7). The
question is
can sendmail configuration file be set up to save the mail other than
/usr/spool/mail, but only for one account? The problem is I want mail
from one
account (complaints) to be able to go to a directory with read/write
access. I
would rather not play with the permissions/masks in /usr/spool/mail to
just
allow other r/w access to one file, (the problem is with the DBMS
software,
when it updates a file, it creates a temp, deletes the original and mv's
the temp,
this had too many permission permutations to deal with...) If I could
have
sendmail save all incoming mail for complaints to go to a different
directory and
all others go to the /usr/spool/mail directory, then I could keep this
special
directory in /tmp directory with full rwx permissions.

I have a cron job that runs every 5 minutes, checks the complaints file
for mail
strips out the pertinant info, then processess it and responds if
needed.

Or is there another way to set this up?

Thanx
