OSF Managers,
I have two very quick questions I would like feed back on.
1) We have a requirement to have group names that are larger than 8 characters. This is possible by editing the addgroup script case statement and adding extra ? symbols (or by manually editing the /etc/group file). Security is unaffected, we have tested that long group names created by addgroup and manually and found them to work OK. So....
Why is there a limit to eight, why do longer groups still work and what standard defined this???????
2) Oracle 8 on DU 4.0b - anyone out there tried it and go bitten (or liked what they saw)? Any feed back on problems/howlers that Oracle want to keep under their hat or is it the best release yet?
Many thanks in anticipation!
