Hello! This is a very late summary of a question I posted a few weeks
ago. Sorry about the lateness. My system seems to be working fine so
other priorities have taken precedence. In fact, I've so far taken no
action regarding my original problem. However, I do thank those of you
who replied. I will keep this information on hand in case I have
future difficulties.
My original question:
>Recently my system (DU4.0B unpatched) crashed with some sort of hardware
>error. I am not sure exactly how to interpret the log files and error
>messages and am seeking some advice. It looks to me as if there might be a
>problem with either the SCSI adapter or the (single) hard disk. Here are
>the particulars:

> [snip]

> CAM logger, CAM error packet, bus 0, target 0, lun 0
Here are the suggestions:
1. I should download dia from digital's FTP site and use that to read
the binary error log. It provides more information than uerf.
2. I should inspect /var/adm/crash/crash-data to see what it says [that
file was not created for me although I did get a vmcore.0 file].
3. "Did you recently install or change memory in the system? We are receiving
the same messages due to incorrect memory simms."
4. "Make sure all SCSI cables are tight and terminated. I've seen this
problem before when there was an unterminated bus."
5. "I might log a call with DEC provided it's under warrenty/service."
