Dear managers,

we are using a HSZ50 with four raidsets. Two with 6 RZ1CB-CA (FW LYJ0) each and
two with 6 RZ29B-VW (FW 0016) each.
Recently the following error-massages occured several times on the console of
the HSZ50 along with ADVFS-errors and entries in the binary.errlog:

(Alpha 4100 with DU 3.2F)

Digital CSC stated that the HSOF Version 5.0 is not supported with RZ1CB
drives.
So we replaced it yesterday with HSOF 5.1, but - same errors this morning and a
broken datafile in our oracle 7.2.3 database.
Replacing the unit at Port: 2. Target: 2. LUN: 0. with a hotspare did not solve
the problem, the "MEDIUM ERROR" occured immediately on the newly inserted disk.
CSC suggested to delete and reinit all raidsets with the new HSOF.
Will that solve the problem?
We are reluctant because of the 40 GB of data that would have to be restored
so I would like to hear if someone had encountered similar problems.

Thanks in advance
