Hi. I've got a DEC 3000 (AXP) that's giving me spurious problems. The errors
are generally CAM SCSI timeouts (from DU 4.0B, when loading the OS from CD, or
afterwards, trying to run the machine from disk), but some of it _might_ be
memory, perhaps, so I'm running the console monitor level diagnostics with
the command
repeat test
I'm getting many fine runs, but eventually the memory test will blow up
(not at the same address twice, alas), with output of the form
? T-ERR-MEM - Addr = xxxxxxx Exp = xxxxxxx Rec = xxxxxxx retries =
? T-ERR-MEM - bad page = xxxx
T-SYS-MEM - Uncorrected error count =
T-SYS-MEM - Total pages = xxxx Tested pages = xxxx Bad pages =
? T-ERR-MEM - FAILED status = nn test Addr addr = xxxxxx
?? 8?? MEM 0x0010
Will any of this help me narrow down the problem? The Addrs are, alas, all
over the map from run to run. The "8??" number has been different on each
failure so far.
Thanks for any pointers.
