Thanks to Olle Eriksson for the clue.
I installed gcc 2.7.2.1 on DU3.2 and them I upgraded to DU4.0A.
In the gcc INSTALL guide, it is stated that this cause gcc
malfunctioning and a gcc rebuild must be done.
The problem vanished after the rebuild.
