We have two altavista firewalls in London & Singapore. We can't
find out how to establish an ftp connection between internal
systems in London & Singapore, via the internet.
For example, if we try to go from London to Singapore the dialogue is
as follows ( London firewall =othello).
Connected to othello.
220-Welcome to the FTP gateway.
220-
220-To connect to a remote FTP server enter your name as:
220-user_at_server.serverdomain (e.g. anonymous_at_host.cs.mumble.edu)
220-
220
Name (othello:piercyp):
The problem is simple - what to we type in? We want to connect to an
internal system in Singapore. We can't specify the user name & system
name. It's not known on the internet. We can't use the Singapore
firewall name - the proxy server will not allow us to connect using a
user name on the Singapore firewall system.
All works fine from our US site to Singapore. We have a Unix based
firewall which allows us to ftp directly to the Singapore firewall
address ( transparent proxy).
Any ideas?
