Strange Paging Problems on Alpha 2100

Hi guys,

I am having some rather unusual problems on my Alpha Server. All of a sudden
the system is doing loads of paging in, and very little paging out. I get
about 180 pin per sec (using monitor). Why is this? We have 7 Oracle
instances using about 50MB of shared memory (from ipcs -b) shm-max x msg-max
is 32 x 4MB. The machine has 512MB physical memory. I have tried rebooting,
changing max-users from 512 (an overkill I know) to 160, max-procs is 256
and max-threads is 512. I have little cause to believe any of these settings
have anything to do with it, but I may be wrong. 'monitor' shows 370MB of
memory free, with only myself logged in and doing very little, and yet I am
getting about 300kbps on my primary swap space and 90 tps on the same. What
could be the problem, please any help would be greatly appreciated, as this
has slowed the system down considerably....my swap is in lazy-mode BTW, that
is /sbin/swapdefault does not exist.

TIA
