I'm setting up a dUNIX v4.0 system using all ADVFS file systems on
mirrored LSM volumes. Am trying to figure out a safe backup/restore
strategy that is as simple and straightforward as possible and am looking
for some advice on a few things.
I looked at the Networker software and it looks like it would be
problematical to restore / and /usr filesystems with it so I'm planning
to do vdumps online of cloned ADVFS filesets. Is this a safe way of
backing up the / filesystem?
The LSM manual states that if you would lose both of your root disks, you
need to do a reinstall of the entire operating system as described in the
Installation guide, and then do LSM reconfiguration procedures from that
point. I am hoping that it's alternatively possible in this scenario to
do a vrestore of the / and /usr filesystems to advfs partitions on a newly
labeled root disk, and then do the LSM reconfiguration from that point.
Would this be possible?
If anyone would have an overview of a restore procedure they've developed
for the root disk in a mirrored LSM configuration, that they'd be willing
to share, it would be appreciated.
In dUNIX ver 4.0, does the problem still exist of vrestore not restoring
disk quotas?
Thanks in advance.
