Hi all,
I have an Alphastation 600 running DU 3.2d. I'm on a 10 base-T
network. In this machine I have added a second 10 base-T nic. I have
configured the second card up with an IP address provided by a third
party vendor. I have put routes into the routing table like this:
sudo route add -net 3rd-party-vendor-host-machine
3rd-party-vendor-gateway
sudo route add -host 3rd-party-vendor-IP-for-ethernet-card
3rd-party-vendor-gateway
and the route added on bootup for 3rd-party-vendor-gateway
3rd-party-vendor-IP-for-ethernet-card
With this, I can ping the nic card, the gateway and the host machine.
Everything is happy.
I then changed /etc/rc.config to turn ROUTER=yes. I rebooted.
I went to another machine on my network and added the following route:
sudo route add -net 3rd-party-vendor-host-machine
My-machine-with-2nd-nic
I thought this would work and I would be able to ping the 3rd party nic
card, gateway and host machine, but I can't. If I do a traceroute, it
goes to my machine with the 2nd nic card but not out the gateway. Does
anyone have any idea what I'm missing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Nicci
