SUMMARY: Q about TLZ09 tape drive

As Dr. Blinn states, "In order to make interchange work, the compression
algorithm used for DAT tapes is the same for all drives. So the 90m tapes
have the same capacity on all drives that support them, and the way the
newer drives get higher capacity is by using longer tapes." Thus, you need
to use 120m tapes to take advantage of the increased capacity of the drive.

Original Post:
I've been using 90m tape for our TLZ06 tape drives, with a rated capacity of
~2GB (compressed). I will soon be receiving a TLZ09, which is rated at
4/8GB. Do I need to order longer tape to take advantage of the extra
capacity, or does the drive write at a higher density somehow? I couldn't
find any references to this anywhere in my searches of the Web/Usenet.
