Alpha 2100 weirdos (real weird !!!)

Hi Gurus,

we had some very strange behaviour with out Alpha 2100, 4/275, 256
MB RAM, 8-bit Raid-Controller, 16-bit Raid-Controller, DU3.2c.
Here's what happened:
After moving we checked the Alpha; it worked. We shut it down and
after three days I wanted to restart it. It did not come up with a
blue screen and an eternal "Probe I/O Sybsys" on the little display.
I called DEC and they sent a guy who turned everything on and off a
couple of times. Then it came up again.
It lasted for about half an hour. Then the machine crashed again.
Blue screen with messages to fast to read (some I/O error, I think).
Anyway, when I tried to reboot the 8-bit Raid-Controller was not
found anymore. It returned a string like "__at_1234" instead of
"Mylex...". The DEC guy took out the controller, cleaned it a little
bit and put it back. The machine found the controller but all drives
of the second split bus were marked failed (he probably mixed up the
two cables for bus I and II. Can that be the reason?). The controller
was unable to find out itself that the drives were ok, so I restored
a backup of the controller configuration. Then it worked again. The
next reboot had another surprise: Now all drives of the 16-bit Raid-
Controller were marked failed. Same story, the controller was unable
to find out that the drives were actually ok. I had to restore the
old configuration.

That's it. Now it runs, but for how long? The DEC guy says everything
is fine now. To be honest, I don't trust him.
Did anybody experience the same weirdos? Any other ideas?

TIA
Juergen
