Reading the list these days, I feel a bit uncomfortable about my system in
case of a major crash (e.g.: root disk and/or advfs). I know that keeping a
copy of the boot disk is a good practice.
I would like to know:
a) The basic steps to create such a thing
b) How to keep it in sync with the original (and when to "resync" it. For
example, what administration activities should trigger a "refresh" of the
boot disk copy)
c) What to do when things go bad. Specifically if I lose / or /usr, how can
I reboot with the emergency disk and restore a backup ? Where can I find the
vrestore and vi commands when /usr is lost ? What should be done if i don't
have a root disk copy ?
The manuals are not clear on that subject and I would greatly benefit from
your experiences.
Thanks in advance for your help
