maximum disk i/o

Managers:

I have an AS2100 running DU 3.2c and Oracle. It has two EISA swxcr
3-channel disk controllers, each with a variety of RZ28s and RZ29s in
RAID 1, 0+1, and 5. I've been monitoring the i/o with iostat.

Does anyone have a formula, rule-of-thumb, or wild guess for the maximum
i/o I can expect from these disks? I think one of the RAID sets may be
a bottleneck. It seems to top out at about the same rate quit often.

I'm wondering if I should be getting PCI controllers and wide SCSI.

Thanks.

Joseph
