Just tried to upgrade an AlphaStation 200 4/233 from DU v3.2C to v4.0 and
have run into a rather large problem. I first upgraged the firmware with
the v3.6 Firmware CD and then started the upgrade. The installupdate
procedure has loaded all the software subsets and done file merging and
then it tries to reboot with the generic kernel to configure the system,
it then gets as far as this:
<snip>
scsi0 at psiop0 slot 0
rz0 at scsi0 target 0 lun 0 (LID=0) (DEC RZ26F (C) DEC IQ0A)
isa0 at pci0
panic (cpu 0): rmalloc
DUMP: No primary swap, no explicit dumpdev.
Nowhere to put header, giving up.
halted CPU 0
halt code = 5
HALT instruction executed
PC = fffffc000045f1d0
>>>
I've tried to boot from the CD and also to single-user mode but it fails
every time. I've installed v3.2C from scratch and tried to upgrade again
with identical results - this time round I upgraded the firmware to the
version on the v3.8 Firmware CD.
Anybody got any idea what's going on, or is it time to log a fault with
DEC ?
Thanks,
John.
