All-
I'm trying to use the Performance Manager GUI on my workstation (running 4.0a)
to monitor a system running 3.2g.
On my workstation:
PMGRBASE210 installed Performance Manager Daemons & Base, Digital UNIX
PMGRGUI210 installed Performance Manager Graphical User Interface, Digital UNIX
PMGRMAN210 installed Performance Manager Reference Pages, Digital UNIX
PMGRUTIL210 installed Performance Manager Additional Utilities, Digital UNIX
On the 3.2g system:
PMGRAPP202 installed Performance Manager Additional Application Support, Digital UNIX
PMGRBASE202 installed Performance Manager Daemons & Base, Digital UNIX
PMGRMAN202 installed Performance Manager Reference Pages, Digital UNIX
PMGRUTIL202 installed Performance Manager Additional Utilities, Digital UNIX
pmgrd and snmpd are running on the remote 3.2g system. On the local system,
I start up the gui, pmgr. I selected "Tasks->Node Management" and created
a node for the remote system. I selected that node icon from the "Nodes"
area and selected some stats to monitor. After starting a session, I get
errors in the message section of the window, such as:
SNMP request timed out for: foo.bar.baz:pmAoVmSwapInUse
The pmgrd and snmpd configuration on the remote 3.2g system is the default
(meaning I haven't modified /etc/snmpd.conf or /etc/srconf/agt/pmgrd.cnf),
which according to the way I read the configuration files means that anyone
should be able to "read" (monitor) anything.
Can I in fact do what I'm trying to do, and if so what do I need to change
to make this work? I'm guessing that I need to tweak something in the
pmgrd.cnf file on the remote system, but what?
Thanks!
