We have DEC VXT2000 Xwindow terminals connected to alphas.
I've upgraded my alphas from DU3.2D to DU4.0B.
Some programs behave not as expected.
E.g. etherman runs on the console, but on the Xwindow-Terminal
it says:
# /usr/local/bin/etherman
address of fphsv01.physik.uni-karlsruhe.de is 129.13.104.4
Monochrome display detected
Page type: A4
Warning: Cannot convert string "0" to type Widget
vogl X11.c couldn't open small font '6x13bold'
You'll have to redefine it....
font: unable to open small font
The problem is not the font. I've checked it. The problem seems
to be the line "Warning:...."
There are similar problems with netscape, or emacs: runs on console,
but not on Xwindow terminal. netscape crashes totally on the Xterm,
after showing me the window with the licence agreement:
netscape
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
Any realistic suggestions welcome!
(I can't give every user his own workstation, the Xterms are expensive
enough for a university in Germany...)
