Hi Managers.
Hope someone could help me with this one...
Yesterday we turned on C2 on our machines runing DU 4.0A. Since we were
using NIS and we have to use a centralized passwords database, we shared
/tcb/files and /var/tcb/files of the machine which used to be the NIS
master server and mounted above the same directories of the machines which
used to be the NIS clients. We distributed /etc/passwd, /etc/groups and
the mail aliases via nrdist. All was normal until the users try to log in
the consoles of any of the machines which used to be the NIS clients.
The can log only using telnet or rlogin, but when the try the console it
says "login incorrect" which is not true because telnet works fine with
the same password. We are in big trouble because here almost everyone uses
the consoles.
We think maybe there is a problem with sharing auth.db, or the
configuration of /etc/auth but since we are new to C2 the truth is we
don't have a clue. Has anyone experienced something like this before?
Thanks in advance,
Carlos Andres Medina Morales
