Hey all - I built the netpbm package (from what I believe is the latest
distribution: netpbm-1mar94.p1) and all the programs in it work great
except (invariably) for the one I need: pbmtext.
Pbmtext works fine as long as I use a "builtin" font, but as soon as I
specify a "BDF" file as the font to use (pbmtext -font file.bdf "text"), I
get:
pbmtext: no memory for font glyph byte map
The machine I'm running this on is an Alphaserver 4100 with Digital Unix
4.0b and 1 GIG of main memory. So obviously, there is no shortage of
memory as the above error message indicates.
If anyone has any hints as to the problem, and hopefully a fix, I'd really
appreciate it.
BTW - The pbmtext program takes text as input and renders a portable
anymap as output, in a chosen font. This is very powerful for on the fly
creation of banners, etc for use in a web page, especially when combined
with the other programs in the netpbm package. In fact, I was able to
save a "BDF" file of any desired font on my Win95 box with Fontographer
4.0, and then build on the fly, anti-aliased banners using pbmtext (and
company). All this works great on Solaris 2.5.1 (on an UltraSparc) and
under FreeBSD on a PPro 200. I need to get it running on the Alpha
though!
Thanks in advance for any help.
