hung tip

Hello.

On Unix 3.2D-1, I have a user that has managed to get
tip hung to a point where it cannot be killed. Here's
the output from ps:

luser 1169 0.0 0.1 1.32M 144K ?? U 13:18:21 0:00.01
tip port1
root 1424 0.0 0.1 1.32M 144K ?? U 13:41:24 0:00.01
tip port1
root 1982 0.0 0.1 1.23M 136K ttyp5 S + 09:00:03 0:00.01
grep tip

kill -9 1169 and kill -9 1424 have no effect, as does sending
a ^D to the associated terminal as does kill -1 1.

Any ideas? Will summarize.
