Would anyone know if the wu-ftpd list is still alive?
I tried to subscribe and it's only sending back error msgs, I may be doing this
wrong but it looks like the list doesn't even exist...
If that list no longer exists, I'll just ask another question about this
subject:
I've been trying to find a sensible and effective solution to restrict the
user's access to the system through ftp, several options were suggested and the
most interresting was to use wu-ftpd and have it do a chroot, I found out that I
was already using wu-ftpd without realizing it, so I figured I'd read the docs
and try to get this setup right, but something doesn't make sense, if we get the
user's accounts setup like the anonymous one and have ftpd do a chroot, it says
in the docs that a user name and password is no longer needed for them to
access, that's a big problem, by restricting access to the rest of the system,
I'd be openning access to everybody else who's not even a user, anybody could
then access any user's account, that makes no sense...
Also, if ftpd doesn't even ask for a user name and password, then how would it
even know which account to go into??? Can anyone help on this?
