The problem is that in the Xresources file, !! is a comment delimiter.
The procedure for changing the banner is as follows:
check for the existence of the directory /etc/dt/config/C. If it doesn't
exist, then create it using mkdir -p /etc/dt/config/C
Copy the file /usr/dt/config/C/Xresource to /etc/dt/config/C
Copy the file /usr/dt/config/Xconfig to /etc/dt/config
Edit Xresources changing the entry for Dtlogin*greeting... to the text
you require. - Don't forget to remove the comments.
Edit Xconfig and change the entry: Xconfig:Dtlogin*resources:
%L/Xresources
to: Xconfig:Dtlogin*resources: /etc/dt/config/C/Xresources
There should be no need to restart xlogin. Either log out and the new
banner will show, or use the reset login on the login screen.
For those that mentioned /etc/issue, on the first couple of lines appear
in a popup. You have to clear the popup to enter you login name.
