Thanks to:

Graham Allan <ALLAN_at_mnhep1.hep.umn.edu>
klarsen_at_enterprise.afit.af.mil (Kristin (Kris) Larsen)
Sean O'Connell <sean_at_stat.Duke.EDU>
Rodrigo Poblete <rpoblete_at_gmd.com.pe>

who all gave me the same info, basically:

1. swap cards (with power off of course)
2. reboot system, boot with genvmunix kernel
watch for diags about tga card
3. add lines for tga card, recompile another custom kernel.
