Hello all,
I am trying to establish a dial-out PPP connection from an Alpha 4100
running DU 4.0D to a remote terminal server (Ascend?). So far, I have been
unable to establish an LCP connection.
Here is my /etc/ppp/options:
connect "chat -vf /etc/ppp/ppplogin"
tty /dev/tty01
asyncmap FFFFFFFF
escape 7e,7f,fe,ff,93
115200
crtscts
lock
debug
mru 552
mtu 552
Here is my /etc/ppp/ppplogin (sensitive stuff X'd out):
ABORT 'BUSY'
ABORT 'NO CARRIER'
'' 'ATZ'
'OK' 'ATDTXXXXXXXX'
'login:' 'XXXXXXXX'
'Password:' 'XXXXXXXX'
'ascend%' 'ppp'
And here are the mysterious messages in the syslog:

I have tried the same setup from Linux on a Pentium, with no problems. The
only major difference between the Linux and the Digital Unix machines (other
than the hardware and OS) is that the Linux machine has no ethernet
interfaces.
Other relevant stuff: sysconfig -s says that ppp is loaded and configured,
and sysconfig -q ppp says that there are two ppp interfaces configured, and
lock_debug is set to zero. I have tried various asyncmap's and escapes, to
no avail. I have also tried connecting to a Digital terminal server (900TM)
with the same result.
Can anyone help? Please reply to me, and I will summarize.
Thanks
