nfs/automount problem

good day all ...

i've been having a tiresome problem with nfs/automount on an alpha 255/dux
4.0b box. i have 14 of these boxes, they are as identical as i can make them
(they are set up as a pvm cluster). they automount filesystems off several
other boxes/platforms (solaris, for the most part). the alphas are in a
netgroup, pvm¸ and the nis server is a solaris 2.5.1 box. the system in
question cannot mount via mount or automount from any of the netgroup machines
logging a permission error:

40 root_at_igor6 /> mount -t nfs grail:/usr/grail2/sl4 /mnt
Can't access /usr/grail2/sl4: Permission denied
41 root_at_igor6 />

while grail appears to have an appropriate /etc/dfs/dfstab entry for this
filesystem:

51 grail /home/mgx> share
- /usr/grail2/sl4 rw=cb:pvm,root=magnolia ""

the other 13 igor's have no trouble at all with any of the rather complicated
nfs/automount'ed filesystems. i've played around a little with the flags to
mountd with no success. i've tried adding an entry into the dfstab file to
explicitly share to igor6 with no success. any suggestions would be most
appreciated!
