Sendmail on a Truecluster

Hello everyone:

We run a three-node Truecluster with sendmail 8.8.8. Each node has its own
unique Internet hostname, plus the cluster, itself has a hostname of
"unix.temple.edu". What I need to do is configure sendmail so that
regardless of which node a user gets directed to when logging onto our
cluster, that any e-mail the user sends from his or her cluster account is
identified as coming from "unix.temple.edu". As it is now, the "From:"
addresses on outgoing mail indicates the hostname of the node within the
cluster. I am not sure if it matters, but we support the use of Pine, Elm,
the usual Unix mail programs and POPmail clients by cluster users.

I know very little about sendmail, but according to the Sendmail book by
Bryan Costales and Eric Allman, I gather that changing the sendmail.cf
file so the "official" hostname directive reads as:

Djunix.temple.edu

should accomplish this. Unfortunately, when I tried testing this on a
workstation, this change only works on e-mail from the root account, not
individual users' accounts. If anyone knows how to get this to work
properly, please let me know.

Thank you
