Fortunately, it turns out that this purchase won't be necessary but thanks to
Tom for responding. Here's his message:
It should support a second NIC if you've got a free option slot. If it were
my system, I'd probably be looking for a "tulip" card, maybe the 10/100 type,
Digital/Compaq sell them as the DE450 or something like that but there are a
number of third-party cards that use the same chip and work with the "tulip"
tu driver in DIGITAL UNIX. There are few other chips supported by the built
in network drivers, so your choices are sort of limited.
