Hi again Sysadmins!
Maybe I was not quite clear in my last mail. What
is special of vdump for me is that it can dump NFS mounted
file systems and it can do compression, so we are looking
for some free similar package to install it on some SGI and
Sun boxes to backup the other workstations. For instance we
would like to do something like:
sun-tape-host# mount -t nfs hostWithoutTape:/ /mnt
sun-tape-host# vdump-like-utility -0Cf /mnt /dev/rmt/0n
This way we can do remote and standard backups of all the
workstations we have here just using 2 or 3 tape hosts with
different OS's.
