Vt420 console

I'm trying to figure out why my 4100 dieing with a panic. The panic scrolls
down the terminal I have hooked up to it too fast to read, and the panic is
reproducable, but not at the same time. I.E. it ran fine for 12 hours
yesterday before it died, but only 5 hours tonight. It leaves NO records in
the binary.errlog or messages as to why it dies and when I tried a crash at
the >> prompt, it didn't dump. I can't remember what exactly it said, but
it was along the lines of SAVE_TERM something or other.

Two questions.

#1 - Anyone have any clues here? I have silver support for this 4100, but
they say they can't do anything without a crash or an entry in
messages/binary.errlog

#2 - How can I capture that output when it does panic? The console is a
VT420-C2 terminal, and I know of no way to scroll back on that thing. Can
someone give me some pointers on what to do there?

Thanks in advance.
