UNIX Managers;
I am trying to apply the latest aggregate patch to DU4D to a 1000A as a
test in preparation for installing it on a 8400 cluster on which we will
install it next week.
Now this is the problem:
The patch has to be installed by running the dupatch application in single
user mode.
So what I did was
1. shutdown the system - init 0
2. boot into single user mode - in the prom set boot_osflags 1
3. mount the var, usr and domain where I put the patches as follows:
mount -t advfs var_domain#var /var
mount -t advfs usr_domain#usr /usr
mount -t advfs usr04#usr04 /usr04
Now I forgot that the root domain (root_domain#root mounted on /) is
mounted as read only in single user mode. Of course the patch kit will
require writing to /tmp and updating files in /. This also precludes
mounting the file system off the cdrom, as root will not be in / where I am
sure the patch kit expects it to be.
What is the procedure that people have used to get around this problem
correctly?
