Greetings again,
This is more of discussion type question. Can anyone
give me a scoop on the "performance" implication of
using "fsgen" vs "gen" type when creating a plex.
The LSM manual was not very clear on discussing this.
Maybe to see where I am coming from, I am trying to
create a Volume with Four "striped" plex only, NO
mirroring, we really do not care about the data on
this particular plex, as you can guess we would like
to get the maximum performance out of this volume.
Also the volume WILL be used as a AdvFS file system, so
as per the suggestion in the LSM volume they recommend
creating the plex with "fsgen" type. But as per my
understanding of what was given there seems to be a
overhead associated with "fsgen" as opposed to using
"gen", am I wrong with this assumption? Also, does
the "fsgen" and "gen: come into play only during
recovery operation, since in my case we are not worried
about any recovery, does it matter?
Thanks for any theories
Mohan
