In my earlier post I received several responses from people
who were under the impression that the printer in question
was connected to a HP Jet Direct card. The printer in question
is connected to the parallel port of an NT server. NT is supposed to
support
lpr/lpd printing if the TCPIP print services is running. You can
setup your printcap file rm = NTservername rp = sharename of printer
this does work but you can not send escape codes to the printer
from UNIX, they just print at the begining and end of any printout.
The dumb thing just stays in portrait mode nomatter what. The print
processor on the NT machne is in "RAW" and any attempt to
add a PassThrough register line has no affect on the orientation
of the print job. I guess "Bill" wants another billion before NT
can operate in a seamless world with the big boys.
If any one has any insight to this problem please let me know
thanks
