Hello,
I'm trying to connect a laptop running Windoze95 via serial port
tty00 to a Alpha433.
The laptop is running µ$$ HyperTerminal emilator in vt100 mode.
Using the Dec provided gettydefs entry 9600:<odd numbers>
I can make the terminal display a login prompt, accept a user
name and ask for a password (getty /dev/tty00 9600 vt100), but
the password is echoed and nothinmg else happens until I
interrupt the getty process.
When starting getty the Alpha tells me:
getty: cannot assign controlling tty: errno=1

before starting getty the device tty00 has permissions ugo+rw,
afterwards u+rw,go+w

What am I missing ? (Or where may I find some documentation, the
man pages aren't very helpful in this case)

TIA

Tschüß,
                                                Dieter
