compiled code by DEC C -> Alpha LINUX machine

Greetings, I plan to compile a C code in Digital UNIX machine using DEC C,
and transfer the binary to an Alpha LINUX machine.

I assume that this makes the execution faster than compiling the C code in the
Alpha LINUX machine using gcc. This assumption is based on a rumor
-- gcc's optimization is not better than DEC C's optimization.

Am I right ?
