Hi,
I have a (rather vague) question: We have written a database client
app. running under Windows NT, which constantly appends data to an
Oracle 7.3.3.0.0 database running under DU 4.0b. The database client
constantly has about 8-9 tables opened simultaneously without ever
closing them under normal circumstances. As soon as an error occurs,
the tables are closed end re-opened again.
Now: While this works flawlessly in our own environment (DU V4.0D),
a cooperation partner reports that the Alpha was brought down to
halt by our database client because there were so many Oracle
processes running on the machine which were apparently triggered
by our database client.
The problem is: I do not have access to this particular machine to verify
the problem. All I know is that our Oracle under 4.0D (they have
4.0B) only has one process per opened table running plus some 6
other oracle processes. And I never saw a hanging Oracle process
on my machine.
So finally my question: Is anyone aware of any problems with
Oracle 7.3.3.0.0 and DU 4.0B which could cause this?
Or any other ideas anyone?
Thanks // Tom
