SUMMARY: DLT performance

It seems that the correct answers to my dilemma are that

(1) the drive's sustained throughput is closer to 5 MB/s
(2) higher rates obtain iff the disks are high-throughput RAID devices
(3) NetWorker Server Save & Restore can be used to increase throughput,
as it has better streaming capability than vdump.

Thanks to all who replied.

Incidentally, Dr. Tom Blinn indicated that Outlook/Exchange is
apparently mangling outbound e-mail. I'm using Netscape to hopefully
force this to a more reasonable condition. Sorry to anyone who was
inconvenienced by this.
