Hi,

I got a problem when trying to connect from an Alpha Server 2100 running DU 4.0b
to other computers through three DECserver 90L+. Below the signature I briefly describe
the problem.

Any help will be really appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time.
Ivan.

We got a C program that opens, gets and sets the attributes of the LAT devices that
map the remote ports in the DECservers. We are able to communicate in both directions
but sometimes, we don't know and wonder why, we miss the connection and the only way
to resume seems to be to manually reset the terminal server's ports.

The LAT version we use is 5.2, and the terminals are STREAM-based (/dev/lat/6xx).

We have configured the ports as follows:
        Speed 9600
        In Flow Enabled
        Out Flow Enabled
        Type Printer
        Break Remote
        Remote Modify Enabled
        ODL Disabled
        Autoconf Disabled
        Test No

Note we cannot open the port (i.e. /dev/lat/636, for instance) if Rem Mod
is Disabled; and we cannot write output if Type is Term.

The questions are:
a) Any idea of what can provoke to miss the connections?
The symptoms we see in the DECserver are:
In or Out flow become off and we need to reset the port.
Status becomes Local, instead of Conn
b) What software is appropriate to remotely set-up the DECservers from
the DU environment? Somthing like MC NCR under VMS.
c) Our code uses tcsetattr and tcgetattr to deal with the ports, as we used
to do against serial line tty's. Any inconvenience?
