Backup Strategies for Digital UNIX for Large Data Warehouses

I have 2 AlphaServer 4100 machines, both connected to a Data Switch via a
fast ethernet connection. Both machines have TZ88 tape devices, and both
have a lot of data. (> 300mb and growing) Both machines are running Digital
UNIX V4.0D - these machines are NOT clustered together in any way. The
disks are using UFS and are set up RAID 5 - Ultra SCSI via HSZ70's.

My question is somewhat generic - what is the best way to backup the data
on these machines? Up until now the only thing I've been using is dump, and
I *KNOW* there's a better way. I've read in the archives about NSR, vdump,
and some various miscellaneous products.

Can any of you seasoned DU system managers give a novice some advice?
