NIS Help

I am trying to set up NIS on our DUNIX 4.0D systems. I set up a master
server, and after I set up a client server (nissetup). No one could log
on to the client machine and I started recieving "NIS SERVER xyz not
responding" on the console I did not set up any security options. This
continued until I removed NIS Client from the machine. I am forgetting
a step? Please help.
