Problems after copying the root device

Dear colleagues,

at the moment I'm updating my machines from 3.2d to 4.0b
I made a clean new installation on an external disk.
After copying / and /usr via vdump / vrestore on the internal disk and
changing fstab I'm booting from the internal disk.
The machine comes up but I'm getting some errors in my syslog (see
below) and can't shutdown the machine with init 0 or init s. After
invoking init s, X-Windows goes down, but the console keeps black. Via a
telnet session I monitored
/sbin/sh /sbin/rc0.d/K35nfsmount stop
hanging

This happens also if I'm booting root from the internal disk and /usr
from the external disk and after remaking the devices in /dev

Any help ?

regards,
harald
