OSF Managers:
Our college runs a three node Seal 2.0 fire wall and one of the nodes
runs our mail transport agent ... sendmail 5.65v3.2
We need to take immediate action and use sendmail 8.8 to block some
spammers who are using us to send mail that is in bad taste.
A Digital rep. cautioned us that upgrading sendmail might compromise our
fire wall, but he couldn't say how.
Might another part of the system to depend on the old sendmail
configuration file?
Doesn't sendmail 8.8 run on the same port with the same protocol as
5.65? If this is so, I think it is a safe assumption that an upgrade
won't compromise the firewall ... or maybe it will.
I'm open to suggestions,
Jason Kantz
