To summarise the answers :

In basic, no. Digital UNIX 4.0D does not support full Ultra Wide devices.
The next major release of Digital UNIX will support it. However, there is a
way to get around it and that's when using a RAID controller that supports
Ultra Wide.

Makes perfect sense to me!
