I'm attempting to get the DSNLINK V2.2 software running on my DUNIX V4.0d
systems. I have to proxy this thru two DUNIX V4.b/AltaVista Firewall 97
systems to get to the Internet & DECompaq. The documentation on this is
sparse - here is ALL the info on how to get DNSLINK traffic thru a
firewall:
"Configuring Firewalls to Use TCP/IP with DSNlink Applications
Customers must configure their firewalls to permit communications between
their systems and DIGITAL. The following is a list of TCP/IP ports used by
DSNlink applications:
Port Abbreviation Application
2370 dsn_nsd Name Server Directory
2372 dsn_mail DSNlink Mail
2373 dsn_its Interactive Text Search
2374 dsn_login Remote Login
2375 dsn_netex Network Exerciser
2376 dsn_sra Service Request Application
2379 dsn_file File Copy
That's it. Pretty dismal. DEC Support so far hasn't a clue about this.
I've tried various combinations of proxy settings but to no avail. Has
anyone out there successfully gotten DSNlink V2.2 thru either ONE or TWO
firewalls? What did you do? I think if I got the proxy settings for one
firewall I could figure out what I needed to do for the other one.
