FancyIndexing in Apache

I tried getting some info from the servers.unix newsgroup, but nobody seems to
be interrested or nobody knows enough about this maybe.

I've had trouble getting the FancyIndexing to work properly on Apache for quite
some time, the problem is that the icons only work on all the document root
folders, for users, main site and virtual, but no icons are ever found when
indexing any subfolders off any root documents. The permissions on the icons
and the folder containing them have to be right, as they work fine in root
document folders, and the Alias in my config files must also work, as the icons
aren't in any document tree, so the fact that they are found suggests to me that
this also must be working right. But why aren't they ever found for subfolders?
Is there a trick to the Alias line? Or do I need a separate Alias line for every
single subfolder in all document trees? (not practical at all).
Here's my Alias line:

Alias /icons/ /apache/icons/

What could be wrong?
