Hi all,
I've recently upgraded an AlphaServer 1000 to 4.0D by
doing a fresh install. After a day or two, it managed to
trash its root partition (bugs in AdvFS I'm told) - I've got
the box back up and I've installed Patch Kit 0002 for DU 4.0D.
I then rebuilt the kernel using 'doconfig -c EDEN' where EDEN
is my configuration file. This created a new kernel which I
rebooted with. After rebooting the system comes up fine,
but when you do a 'uname -a' I still get 'OSF1 eden V4.0 878 alpha'
which is identical to before, although the timestamp for the kernel
is today (as expected).
My question is this - have I rebuilt the kernel correctly? Have the
patches actually taken? Or am I missing something here?
Yours,
Mark Burrell
